Rollでは、写真家の中嶋琉平による最新展を開催します。7歳の時に父から貰ったコンパクト・デジタルカメラを手に、東京の様々な場所を撮影し始めた中嶋は、11歳の時に何度も同じ階段を飛び続けている同世代のスケーターに出会い、惹かれ、スケートボードにのめり込んでいきます。いつでもどこでも自由に移動できるその素晴らしい乗り物によって写真の世界をさらに広げていき、近年積極的に撮影と発表を続けています。本展では、昨年のニューヨークと先月訪れたベトナム、そして東京の写真から厳選した作品を展示、販売します。中嶋琉平の最新展にどうぞご期待ください。

中嶋琉平｜Ryuhei Nakashima
2005年東京生まれ。2018年から新宿のスケーターをはじめスナップを撮影している。2023年にスケートボードに発光体を取り付け長時間露光で撮影し、スケーターの動きと街を捉える“searching light”を発表。また、2024年に初渡米しNYCに一ヶ月滞在し撮影を行う。自宅暗室で自らプリント作業を行うほか、展示やZINE制作など精力的に活動している。主な個展に”another place on earth”（Inherit Gallery／2022）、”searching light2”（Platform／2024）など、多数開催。｜Instagram

Introduction:

Roll is pleased to present the latest exhibition by photographer Ryuhei Nakashima. At the age of seven, armed with a compact digital camera gifted by his father, Nakashima began photographing various places around tokyo. When he was eleven, he encountered a skater his own age who tirelessly kept jumping the same set of stairs. Captivated, he soon immersed himself in skateboarding. With this remarkable vehicle that allows free movement anytime and anywhere, he expanded his photographic vision and in recent years has been actively shooting and exhibiting his work.

This exhibition features a carefully selected series of photographs taken in New York last year, in Vietnam just last month, and in Tokyo. We invite you to look forward to Ryuhei Nakashima’s latest showcase.

Profile:

Ryuhei Nakashima
Born in Tokyo in 2005. Since 2018 he has been photographing street skaters in Shinjuku as well as street snapshots. In 2023, he released ‘searching light’ a project in which he attached light−emitting devices to skateboards and used long exposure to capture both the movements of skaters and the city. In 2024, he traveled to the U.S. for the first time, staying in New York City for a month to shoot. He prints his own photographs in his home darkroom and actively presents his work through exhibitions and ZINE publications. His major solo shows include “another place on earth” (Inherit Gallery, 2022) and “searching light 2” (Platform, 2024), among others.
