Rollでは、写真家・原田教正の写真展を開催します。“My origin photographs”と題した本展では、まるで自分自身の原点を問い直すかのように2023〜24年にかけてドイツに2度滞在しながら撮影した写真と、その帰国後に東京で撮影した新作から厳選し展示、販売します。

原田の写真に写っている静物や風景は、いつかどこかで見たことのある変哲のないもので溢れていますが、その印画紙に定着している時間はどこか一定であり、なぜか一律であり、その時にしか存在しないが故の美しい普遍性を纏っているように感じます。それは写真家自身の写真に対する願望なのか、それとも写真というメディアが元来持っている性質なのか。今秋からドイツと東京の二拠点生活を始め、更に作品制作に精力的に取り組んでいく原田教正の最新展にどうぞご期待ください。

原田教正｜Kazumasa Harada
1992年東京都生まれ。武蔵野美術大学映像学科卒業。コマーシャルフォトグラファーとして活動する傍ら、写真家として展覧会や写真集の制作を継続して展開。2020年に1st写真集『Water Memory』を発表後、『Obscure Fruits』（2021）、『My origin photographs』（2024）、『An Anticipation #2』（特装版限定20部／applause／2025年）等を刊行。2023、2024年のベルリンでの滞在制作を経て、2025年9月より同地に拠点を移す予定。

At Roll, we are pleased to present a solo exhibition by photographer Kazumasa Harada.
Title ‘My origin photographs’ this exhibition feature a selection of works photographed during two separate stays in Germany between 2023 and 2024, as well as new pieces captured after his return to Tokyo.Through these images, it its as if Harada is questioning the origins of his own existence.

The still life and landscapes depicted in Harada’s photographs are filled with ordinary, familiar scenes−things we might have seen somewhere, sometime. Yet the time fixed onto the photographic paper feels strangely uniform and consistent, conveying a sense of beautiful universality that exists only because it can never be repeated. Is this a reflection of the photographer’s desire toward photography, or an intrinsic quality of the photographic medium itself?

Beginning this autumn, Harada will live between Germany and Tokyo, further devoting himself to his artistic practice. We invite you to experience his latest exhibition and witness the evolution of his work.

Profile

Kazumasa Harada
Born in Tokyo in 1992. Graduated from the Department of Imaging Arts and Sciences at Musashino Art University. Alongside his work as a commercial photographer, he continues to create and present photography exhibitions and publications. After releasing his first photo book ‘Water Memory’ in 2020, he went on to publish ‘Obscure Fruits’ / 2021, ‘My origin photographs’ / 2024, and ‘An Anticipation #2’ / limited edition of 20 copies, applause, 2025. Following artist residencies in Berlin in 2023 and 2024, he plans to relocate there in September 2025.
